Hydroquinone is one of the most popular whitening agents of the skin. It is widely used to remove skin spots, melasma, scar colors, etc. Hydroquinone is a bleaching agent. Hydroquinone reduces the production of melanin (pigment of skin color) and increases its breakdown. Hydroquinone formulations (creams) are available both the-counter products and prescription. Prescription products are higher in strength.
